Thoracic Trauma - Secondary Survey
In short, this consists of:
- Physical examination
- ECG and oximetry.
- Blood gas measurement.
- Upright CXR in patients w/o suspected spinal injury
- CT chest with suspected aortic or spinal injury
Aimed to detect the following injuries:
- Simple PTX
- Hemothorax (non-massive).
- Flail chest
- Pulmonary contusion
- Blunt cardiac injury
- Traumatic aortic disruption
- Traumatic diaphragmatic injury
- Blunt esophageal rupture
