Cordis Introducer Sheath

A Cordis is a large bore (8-9 Fr), short catheter used to insert and remove temporary vascular devices. Used for Swan-Ganz placement and massive resuscitation (flow rates are up to 850 mL with pressurized systems).

Procedure

Same as a central line with the following exceptions

• dilator and catheter inserted as a single unit over the wire
• remove the dilator and guidewire as a single unit
